Risk Disclosure
Last updated: 6 September 2026
Please read this disclosure before applying for a card. It describes risks associated with the services offered through anyitem.cards. It does not describe every risk, and it is not financial, legal or tax advice.
1. Nature of the product
The product is a prepaid payment card. It is not a bank account, not a deposit, and not an investment product. It does not pay interest and offers no return.
Cards are issued by licensed financial institutions. AnyItem operates the Platform and provides distribution and servicing. AnyItem does not hold your funds in its own name and is not a licensed deposit-taking institution.
Funds loaded onto a card are held by the issuing institution or its designated safeguarding partner and may not be protected by a deposit protection scheme.
2. Virtual asset risks
Where a card balance is funded using virtual assets, the following risks apply.
Price volatility. Virtual asset values can move sharply and without warning. The value converted to your card balance is determined at the time of conversion. Movements between the time you initiate a transfer and the time it settles are borne by you.
Irreversibility. Blockchain transfers cannot be reversed. Funds sent to an incorrect address, on an incorrect network, or in an unsupported asset may be permanently lost and cannot be recovered by us or by the issuing institution.
Network conditions. Confirmation times and network fees are determined by the relevant blockchain and are outside our control. Congestion may delay funding.
No guarantee of value. Virtual assets are not legal tender, are not backed by any government, and may become illiquid or worthless.
3. Regulatory risk
The regulatory treatment of virtual assets and of virtual-asset-funded payment products is evolving and differs between jurisdictions. Changes in law, regulation, or the policy of a payment network or issuing institution may result in suspension or withdrawal of the product in your jurisdiction; new or additional verification requirements; restrictions on merchant categories, transaction types or limits; or termination of the service at short notice.
Services are offered only in Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan and Malaysia, and are not offered to residents of the mainland of the People's Republic of China, the United States of America, or any comprehensively sanctioned jurisdiction. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the product is lawful where you are located.
4. Transaction and acceptance risk
A transaction may be declined or delayed for reasons including insufficient balance, limits, technical failure at any point in the payment chain, merchant restrictions, or risk and compliance screening. Neither AnyItem nor the issuing institution guarantees that any particular transaction will be authorised or that the card will be accepted by any particular merchant.
Automated risk screening may decline a legitimate transaction. Where this occurs you may contact support, but we cannot guarantee that a declined transaction can be reprocessed.
5. Account suspension and closure
Your account may be suspended or closed where required by law, by the issuing institution, or under our AML / KYC Policy. Where an account is suspended pending review, access to your balance may be unavailable for the duration of the review. Where an account is closed, return of any remaining balance is subject to the issuing institution's procedures and to the completion of required checks.
6. Security risk
You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials, your card details and your devices. Losses arising from your disclosure of credentials to a third party, from device compromise, or from your failure to report unauthorised access promptly, may not be recoverable.
Beware of impersonation. We will never ask you for your password, one-time codes, or the full details of your card by email, message or telephone.
7. Tax
You are solely responsible for determining and meeting any tax obligations arising from your use of the product, including in relation to the disposal of virtual assets used for funding. We do not provide tax advice and do not calculate or withhold tax on your behalf.
8. Service availability
The Platform may be unavailable due to maintenance, technical failure, or events outside our control. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
9. Acknowledgement
By applying for a card you acknowledge that you have read and understood this disclosure, that you accept the risks described, and that you are able to bear any loss that may result.
